I’ve been to Crosstalent 8 yesterday. Usually at the previous sessions we talk about media/creativity/advertising stuff, but on this one Vicens Castellano tried to convince the eager audience that they should focus on making money by converting all passive aspects of their life in actives. I told them and I still think is wrong.

Yes we have to have money to live. The system works like this.
Yes even I use and ask for money for my services.

But there are people out there who know to make money better than me.
And those people cannot do what I do.

I am not for extreme especialization, but we divided the work into social casts. See Ernest Gellner social anthropology. Be better at what you like and leave the money making business to those who know to make money.

This is the short version of my view.

En lugar escribiré una pregunta urmuziana y retórica igualmente sin valor sobre un roble.

• Por que un roble, en todo su poder, no produce tomates?
• soy seguro que esta capaz, es uno de los grandes en el bosque.
• soy también seguro que tiene tambien tiempo libre, aparte de sus deberes de roble, cual sean estas…
• quisa quiere romper un poco con la monotonia diaria
• o quisa quiere retirarse despues de una vida entera produciendo bellotas
• o quiere jugar una fiesta a sus companieros hayas
• o quisa el precio de las bellotas lo hace cambiar de modelo de negocio
• o se puede quedar inamorado y empieza hacer fresas por un tiempo

Instead I will write an equally worthless urmuzian and rhetorical question about an oak.

• Why the oak, in his might, doesn’t produce tomatoes?
• I am sure his capable of it, after all his one of the big ones
• I am sure that he has some time off from day to day responsibilities as an oak
• maybe he wants to break the monotony from time to time
• or he could want to retire after a long time of acorn producing
• or he might want to play a trick to a fellow beech
• or the falling price of the acorns makes him change the business model
• or he could fall in love and make some strawberries for a while
